How Paging Works
Most on-call tools are a rotation calendar bolted onto a Slack webhook. Waypoint is built around one idea: an alert should escalate exactly as far as it needs to, and no further. A flaky check that clears itself in 90 seconds shouldn’t wake anyone. A payments outage at 2am should reach a real person inside a minute, then their backup thirty seconds after that if they don’t ack.
